Today Andrew, Jana and myself, Julien, went to Northern Ireland for orienteering at Tyrella Beach, an army base surrounded by sand dunes. Last year a strong DUO delegation went there for the first run of the 2014 inter-varsity and thus we went with mixed feelings. It's a gorgeous landscape, but very challenging. Throughout our drive rain came lashing down and it seemed like we were up for some pretty miserable weather right beside the sea. Fortunately, however, the weather cleared and got progressively better as we ran our courses, making the day a lot more enjoyable!
Jana had a great run on the light green course and helped out some less experienced runners on her way. She took 86 min and became 6th (35 seconds after the nr. 5). I struggled a little on my green course, but together with some buddies I picked up on the way I managed to find my way back and finished the course in 93 minutes (15th, 36 seconds after the nr. 13). Andrew ran the long brown course in 128 min (8th) and found the course a nice challenge.
